EFI? 5 Years, 5 Months ago
Hey I was just wondering out of curiosity, Has anyone ever heard of anyone putting fuel-injection on a Roadstar? I am surprised that no one has come up with an EFI kit for the Roadstar yet. This might be the only thing my Dad's HDRoadkKing has over my Roadstar. His EFI is pretty slick for cold-starting. I am wondering why he gets the better gas mileage, is it because of the EFI? Or maybe is it because my engine is 200cc bigger? ...Any thoughts, anyone?
(I wouldn't mind having EFI on a Yami, but ain't gonna splurge on a Roadliner until I get over 100,000km on my Roadstar.)

Personnaly, I prefer things I can work on if they go bad. Also, if the battery goes dead I have the back up of push starting the bike.

I think EFI would be a great addition to the R*. Maybe they will come out with a kit for it someday and I would probably be an early adopter when they do.

Buy a Warrior motor and stick it in the Roadie.

Just think it would be a good option to put out an EFI model. Fine tuning using a laptop the tweak the fuel system to me sounds a whole lot easier than pulling the thing apart to make adjustments. Especially for someone like me who is more a teknow geek than a mechanic.

Hang in there . The EPA will probably mandate it soon. But you probably won't be able to tweak it. It will use codes only Yami dealers have. And boy will they charge for a tune up.

Been doing a little reading on the EFI stuff, seems once on the bike you can get aftermarket controllers that have the codes. Hook it up to a laptop and send the commands yourself. Can you imagine all the tweaking a person would do to tune it to certain pipe/air breather setups. Some car models even have on the fly changers with memory settings for different conditions, that can be changed without a laptop hookup. This sounds very interesting to me, but having worked with computers for about 20 years, this sounds right up my alley.
