Compression PSI 3 Years, 6 Months ago
Just curious. I haven't even checked my personal Roadstar, but I was curious if anyone knows what the factory psi compression is for a stock 1700.

That's correct 142 -199 psi and the difference between the cylinders should less than 10%

Thanks Coug,and Doc

I have a bud with a 1500 Suzuki that was having some probs. His compression on both cylinders with the compression release disconnected was only 90 psi. I suspect valves. I squirted oil in the cylinders and checked again with no increase. Didn't have a book, but though it had to have at least 145 to run right.

Thanks, John

Yes ... you need to make sure the decompression release is not functional.

A leakdown test would give you a better idea. I believe I've seen instructions for a home-made setup on the Internet.

Thanks Doc,
I have a leak down set-up at the shop. We just checked it here at home and haven't had a chance to get it in yet.
