Details.......and need a new seat 5 Years, 4 Months ago
Alright, I have a 2005 road star, and haven't really done a lot of extras on it because the day after I bought it, we found out we were having a baby. So I guess the baby is more important than my bike(just kidding). So my babygirl has all the extra's that would have gone to my bike! But I did get the Vance and Hines short shots exhaust, they threw in the silverado windshield and sissy bar when I bought the bike, and I have some temporary saddlebags that I got on ebay(40$). I love the bike, it looks good, sounds good, and runs better than my previous bike of a Vulcan 1500FI. Me and the father-in-law are going to Sturgis this year and this will be by far my farthest trip ever.(about 1100 miles). Now I can't even go like 50 miles before my lower back/upper butt start hurting. One of those hurts where you can't even put your feet down when you stop. But anyways, I was looking at a mustang, corbin, ultimate, the yamaha dual touring seat, and saddleman for a different seat. Will get one with a drivers backrest, I'll also try to get a crashbar with the kuryaken stirrup pegs. I would appreciate any feedback that ya'll might have. I am 6'1 and about 255 lbs. Thanks for the time
(No jet parts on the bike YET)

jetmechanic,
Understand having to balance priorities with the kids... mine are teen-agers now so I actually get to enjoy some of the cool toys we drop money on, but it does eat into the goodies for the bike

Not sure what kind of seat you have now. You mentioned you have a sissy bar, so assume you have a Yami seat. I have a Silverado seat on by bike and have also be looking at drivers backrests set-ups. "thebru" has a pretty nice set-up using a Utopia backrest on his Silverado seat. It looks great and he claims it's really comfortable. My younger brother and I are planning on riding up to Sturgis this year on our R*s, along with some cousins who all ride Harleys (Think some of the wives may follow us in a motor-home so they can carry parts for the Harleys ). I definitly need to do something by then.

Look forward to seeing a sigpic of your bike. Suspect with a name like jetmechanic your bike may be white! Assume you know about the white roadstar phenomena. Our local site physicist (that would be Musky) can probably fill you in on that phenomena

I am running the stock seat, and it kills me if I go over about 50 to 60 miles. I've heard good things about Corbin,Ultimate and the yamaha dual touring seat, and am deciding between the three. Is there any way you can like test it before you buy it, or is that just wishful thinking?? Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. I will get a pic of mine as soon as I figure out how. Mine is the 2005 white and black model. Very sexy!

Here's the sig pic instuctions - http://roadstarclinic.com/component/option,com_simpleboard/Itemid,91/func,view/id,1533/catid,4/

A lot of people buy a seat and if they don't like it sell it for as close to what they paid as they can get but you're going to take a hit. Any of the seats you mentioned are way better than the stocker but it comes down to what your backside likes and that takes riding with it. Remember that the good seat (in my opinion) feel hard at first but get better as they break in and form to you. Firm isn't hard, it's supportive. A seat that feels soft at first will let you down later. Again that's my opinion.

Don't feel alone Coug, I like the stock seat so far myself. I have noticed depending on what kind of jeans I'm wearing and how the seams are in them it makes my ride better or worse. Now I have a certain couple pairs of jeans that I make my wife stack seperate cause they're my "riding jeans". My wife just rolls her eyes.
