Any body got the yamaha clear lowers willing to send me the measurements on them? I am going to make me a set and it would sure help if I had some measurements foR them. If not I will just wing it. Course if I do that the front end mayget airborne.

Hey Curt,

I used to run the Yamaha clear lowers and they allowed a lot of head buffeting. You might want to get the dimensions of something more like a Bucks set of lowers. I used those too and they worked a lot better.

Thanks Gram that's good to know. What is the difference between them and the yami ones? Are they longer wider or what? Seeing as how I am making my own I can customize them any way I need to. If they are curved that isn't a big thing as I can bend the lexan using my heat gun. Just need a idea of where to start. I have the Barons crash bar and I understand a lot won't work with them so I am making my own. You know me always making something.

Curt, I'd be interested in a pattern after you perfect your design. I've got access to a shop where making these would be a snap.

My buddy is an all out genius when it comes to fabricating things. He just needs a starting point/pattern/idea.

Thanks!

OK I will send something when I get lined out and tested. I may go thru several pattens of the lexan before I get it right. Once I get it ironed out I will try and draw something up on my cad system.

Hey Curt,

I just measured them and they're 11" X 5" Of course, the shape isn't rectangular though, so that's 11" up the center and 5" at the widest.

Yeah, they're not suppsosed to work with big bars. I'm wanting those Linby bars....i think they work with those.

I used the HD chrome lowers until these came in off back order. I don't think either one out performs the other, but I'll bet the Bucks lowers are better than both.

What hardware are you using to mount them? I'd be interested in what you come up with; maybe I'll cut some bigger deflectors to mount to my OEM mounts.

Well I have a bunch of scrap aluminum lying around and I am going to use that to fab my mounts. It is about 1/8” thick and I like it because it is light weight and I can polish it up like chrome. I also have some stainless steel in a lot thinner stuff that is brushed finish but it takes forever to sand it and buff it out like chrome.

Hey Curt here is the ones that I manufactured for the winter months out here in So. Cal.
The lenght and width are not that crticle but the holes in the brackets are. It all depends what windsheild bracket you are mounting to. Mine is the Silverado Yami bracket. I just put my angle iron on the holes and put some white out marks and drilled away.

In the pictures I made one set with straight angle iron and the other set with bent angle Iron. For me the ones that mount on an angle work better then the ones that mount straight.

If you want I can send a pic later with them on the bike. Me and the old lady are gonna go ride now. (our bikes)

If you need anymore info just let me know. OSO
