Quick question about bike lowering . . . 1 Month, 2 Weeks ago
Hey whaasup you guys , just wondering if I do exactly what it's explained right here : LINK

How much lower is my fender going to get ?? 1 inch ?? 2 inches ?? can I lower my bike (using a lowering kit) and also lower my fender ?? I love the "almost drag to the floor look"

If I lower my bike 2 inches will it affect it's performance a lot ?? I use it all the time , rain or shine , I go everywhere with my bike , are there big drawbacks about it ??

Thanks , I will really really appreciate your input on this

I lowered mine around 30,000 miles ago doing the grind and flip on the relay arm. I also ride in rain or shine and have had no adverse affects from lowering. You drag your boards and frame more. This method lowered mine right around two inchs.

In my opinion the fender mod only moves around an inch maybe a hair more. Thats alot of work for a small look.

Loko:

Obviously, their's "lower" and their's "Slammed". The link grind (or swap for the aftermarket link) are a good start if you only want to get a slightly lower look.

If you want to slam it all the way down, air suspension will do that for you.

Tampa, do you have to hit a button and raise it... every time you want to turn a corner?

I like the air ride that TampaSVT has. I opted for the lower cost (FREE) of lowering using the "flip and grind" as seen in the tech articles. The flip and grind lowered the rear end on mine a little more than 2". I do drag floorboards more often than before, but I expected that. I haven't upgraded the spring yet, but I don't ride two-up very often.

The lowest you can lower the fender is about 3.5" above the tire. Any lower and the subframe may rub on deep bumps or if there's a lot of weight on the bike.

You cannot lower the fender and the bike at the same time. The fender is fixed so as you lower the bike (move the swingarm up) it moves the tire into the fender; lowering the fender moves the fender onto the tire.

If you lower the bike using the flip you will need a stiffer spring ... you're a big guy so you're gonna bottom.

you can do the flip pretty quickly..and if you don't like it its even easier to flip it back

give flip a chance up the pre load and just see how your bike likes it

You wouldn't want to ride it that low...
