I promise Expert Boarder Posts: 515 Quick question about bike lowering . . . 3 Years, 6 Months ago   Hey whaasup you guys , just wondering if I do exactly what it's explained right here : LINK How much lower is my fender going to get ?? 1 inch ?? 2 inches ?? can I lower my bike (using a lowering kit) and also lower my fender ?? I love the "almost drag to the floor look" If I lower my bike 2 inches will it affect it's performance a lot ?? I use it all the time , rain or shine , I go everywhere with my bike , are there big drawbacks about it ?? I also ride in rain or shine and have had no adverse affects from lowering. You drag your boards and frame more. This method lowered mine right around two inchs. The link grind (or swap for the aftermarket link) are a good start if you only want to get a slightly lower look. I opted for the lower cost (FREE) of lowering using the "flip and grind" as seen in the tech articles. The flip and grind lowered the rear end on mine a little more than 2". I do drag floorboards more often than before, but I expected that. Thanks , I will really really appreciate your input on this The lowest you can lower the fender is about 3.5" above the tire. Any lower and the subframe may rub on deep bumps or if there's a lot of weight on the bike. You cannot lower the fender and the bike at the same time. The fender is fixed so as you lower the bike (move the swingarm up) it moves the tire into the fender; lowering the fender moves the fender onto the tire. If you lower the bike using the flip you will need a stiffer spring ... you're a big guy so you're gonna bottom. I think I will try the flip method , 2 inches lower is good enough , by the way how much and where is a good place to buy or price the air ride suspension for my bike ??
