'03 Silverado Light Bar 1 Month, 1 Week ago
I just installed a light bar that came off of an '03 Silverado. I installed it onto an '03 Silverado.

I have not compeleted any of the wiring and was surprised at the lack of available wiring as I assumed, incorrectly, that the previous owner had removed a lightbar similar to one I am now trying to install.

It looks like the original owner must have dropped the bike and bent the original light bar on the bike and then just cut it off and replaced the blinkers with small blinker bullets attached the headlight.

One question that came to mind was did the Silverados come with just a Blinker bar beneath the headlight and the passing lights were an add on? The reason I am asking this is the wiring in the headlight only contains a single available power line and the two blinker lines.

The light bar I just installed has three lines running from each blinker (making me assume, there I go again, that the blinkers are running lights as well) and then one single line from each of the passing lights "y'd" together into and inline fuse.

I blew the 15amp fuse just poking around so before I do anything really stupid I thought I'd ask yuo guys your thoughts.

I didn't find anything in the tech articles that help to point me in the right direction.

I don't think the 03 Silverado came with a light bar. So you probably won't find wiring made to hook it up to.

Where were the Blinkers attached? There was some bar on there that the previous owner cut off. I was in the process of attaching pictures but got bounced because they were too large.

There would just be a straight bar with a signal sticking out each end.

Yeah that must be it. I had to remove a portion of an old bar and that's what I am thinking it must have been.

Look on the start page at Marks passing lamp mod pic. You can see about how long the stock bar should be.

Pretty sure that was it. he had it capped with a nice chrome cover. Maybe the Bullet type blinkers came as a kit and the cover was part of it. Who knows?

Anyway, the blinkers on the new light bar are definitly double filament lamps so they must act as running lights as well. Once again I am assuming.

Do the blinkers on your lights bars (guys) work as runnning lights as well? I am just trying to figure out the three cables coming out of each blinker.

Musky I know I just looked at your ride in the caledar but I can't remember if you are running a light bar.

Installed they look great. Now I just need to figure out the wiring.

Anyone know if there was a wiring harness that went with this?

On most, if not all bikes, the front signals are running and turn. I do have a light bar.

Thanks again Musky. That does answer some questions. I should be able to manage the wiring over the weekend. I'll have a few hours tomorrow when I should be able to move freely. After about 3pm I can't really say I'll be able to move too well though. Happy Thanksgiving.
