Aiming Passing Lamps 3 Years, 6 Months ago
Found an old thread with some measurements from Musky about aiming your headlight but couldn't find anything on where the passing lights would normally be aimed.

Any thoughts you guys?

I put my bike 15 feet from the wall and turned everything on. I aimed the passing lamps just outside and 12" lowering than the headlight beam. I read it somewhere and have no idea if that is the correct way, but it worked out well for me.

You can aim them?!?

Seriously.... I've never touched them. the "spread" or pattern of light thats thrown is more than acceptable to me, especially when I "kick in" the high beam.....

The guy at the dealership I got my bike from said the same thing, that they would shut off when I switched to high beam. But mine don't, they stay on all the time, after the engine has been started. Of course, the little toggle switch can turn them off, but I leave them on all the time. I figure the more lights showing, the better chance the cagers will see me.

Mine stay on all the time also and I've never tried to aim them. They do provide quite a bit of additional lighting....kinda like the aux lights/fog lights on the jeep. I turn them off when I run during cooler rides especially if i have my electric liner plugged in. Figgure its better to have less draw in the colder days. Course, its a 2006 so the charging system should be adiquate to run all the lights and carry the light load of the liner.

Mine stay on all the time too, like i said before.

When the boy put his lightbar and spots on, the dealer wired them up, said they were supposed to stay on all the time.

I know on my Yamaha 650, the spots shut off when I turned on the high beams......

Just a thought.....

I had passing lights on my other bike and what I did was take it out the country where I seem to be alot at night and aimed them at the sides of the road to "light up" deer and what not. Not a big fan of aiming them at a wall. Take it out at night and aim 'em. Get the light right where yaa want it.
