Question of the day 5 Years, 4 Months ago
Since i am new to the roadie how long are they supposed to last say what is the engine life span I know with the Harleys 80.000 miles and your rebuilding the engine if not instead of a 100 miles of riding before you start pushing its 50 miles before you start pushing but the Japs are a lot smarter than that so anybody have a estiment on what i can expect

I've seen guys on the RSR site say they have 100K+ miles and just regular service done on them. I think the engine is designed to be a work horse so you can expect a pretty good life span out of it.

80.000 miles

I would expect to double that. That's if it's taken care of properly.

It will probably outlast your desire to keep it.

Some of the 'old-timers' have easily hit 100 k without any problems. I haven't heard of any re-builds except to put HC pistons or larger jugs.
