Adapting Air Cleaners to Roadstar 5 Years, 7 Months ago
There are a lot of different styles of air cleaners out there for V Twin type motorcycles. I know we have a Mikuni 40mm BSR CV carb. I have seen adapters for mounting HD air cleaners to 40mm Klein CV and other adapters for the Harley. The only adapters I have seen for the R* cost in excess of $225. Has anyone adapted an air cleaner for another type of bike to the R*? How To? Parts source? Satisfied with function and appearance?

Post edited by: Brutha, at: 2006/10/26 10:11

Usually when I ask something like this Doc tells me to try it out and let him know how it works.

You might want to ask this over on the RSR site. A lot more people over there.

There are some air cleaner assemblies that I like that are for Harleys. I like the idea of having something different. Everyone has the Barons or Kuryakyn. Yeah it works but I want something else. I will get one of the adapters if need be. It won't be Mickey Mouse I assure you.

Check out the custom Plum Loco in the Nov. issue of Road Bike.

Post edited by: Brutha, at: 2006/10/27 20:52

Kuryakyn makes an adapter for 40 HSR to CV. I was looking at it in my garage a little earlier tonight, because I am thinking of trying to adapt a D&M Spike type unit. It clamps to the carb throat and the face (boss) has a CV bolt pattern. Just have to come up with a support for the carb. May be able to use my Baron Velocity stack mount or just come up with a design and have it machined from aluminum.

I was too late but I think I'm getting lots of air with the mods I've made. I'm going to run what I got till I get a new exhaust this summer.
