Backfire when starting off in 1.st gear 3 Years, 1 Month ago
Today I went out on the bike for a while, wheneverI would pull off from the light in 1.st gear the bike would backfire at first.

It did this until I upped the idle a bit. If the idle is too low will it cause the backfire? or did it just stop for some other reason ?

Hard to say, we all tend to set our idle to low because we want that thump or loping sound, they should be set around 900 rpms. It will feel like it is a little high, but it is better for the bike.

Was it doing it before the bike got warmed up all the way?

Don't do any adjustments to the bike until it's at full operating temp. Until these bikes are all warmed up they're cranky.

Mine seems to be especially cranky if it's cold & it's been sitting for a week or so. These things don't like to sit, they wanna' GO!
