08 road* MPG 3 Years, 4 Months ago
OK you know how us new-bes are a lot of ? Could anyone with a 08 * tell me what king of MPG they are getting. Its funny I thought the Fuel injection would give me better MPG but I think the 05 I had had better MPG. Also when they gave me the brochure on the 08 it said it had a 5.3 tank but manual say 4.75 Gal please give input.

Are you still in the break in period? Are you going by the recommended speeds and RPMs for the break in? I know even my 07 (not fuel injected) didn't get very good milage during the break in. The tank added to the reserve might add up to what they told you the tank cap was, if not, your sales person "Guessed" wrong, as some try to guess rather than look it up. What does it say online for spec's?

On the bikes with EFI you lose gas space to the FI stuff. The tank is the same size as the 07 and older. But they put the FI stuff inside the tank. So it's still a 5.3 gallon "size" tank but it only holds 4.75. Yami manuals are often misleading if not flat out wrong.

Don't worry about your mileage until you have a t least a thousand miles in it.

Break-in definitely affects your overall mileage as tolerances in the motor, etc., are still pretty tight. My mileage has improved since the first 1000 miles or so.

Also, your tank could hold 5.3 gals, but your scoot's tank has the fuel pump housed inside the tank, taking up some space. Hence, the manual says 4.75 gals instead.

Musky beat me to it...again.

Thanks heatonmt. Both seats are made by Ultimate, in Canada. Very comfy on long rides. My better half loves hers.

I got 29 MPG on my 08 for my first check. I started a thread where I will be posting my ongoing mileage checks. Here is the link.

Wow RoadHawg - sorry to say but that seems like awful mileage to me. I get 39 mpg on average... never less than 37 mpg. I do know that engines get worse mpg when they're fresh outta the dealer, and gradually obtain better mileage once broken in. How many miles on yours?

:-DD.

I had low MPG on mine and discovered she was just way too rich from the factory.
