Yep. And in two or three years, where will the customers be when they need service and spare parts? Disgusting and stupid.
If the company went back, really trimmed the fat and got the cost of a new bike between $18,000 and $24,000, they might have a shot at staying in business, and even give Harley-Davidson some decent competition. Their current pricing is basically Corporate Hara-Kiri. *shaking my head...*

Take a look at the Dirico bikes. The Flyer and the Pro 1; they're nice too, but plenty pricey... at least nearly all the mechanicals are straight Harley.

Exactly, if they were $1-2K more than a HD they might have a chance, but they are basing their pricing on screaming eagle prices, actually more. You can get a HD Ultra Classic Screaming Eagle for about $35.5K. The Indian Chief Vintage is about the same price; want any color other than black, add $200-$900. Billet wheels adds another $1000. So for a two tone Vintage with billet wheels and tan seats/saddlebags @ $37,500. And it doesn't come with a stereo, nor all the chrome the Screaming Eagle does and the engine is smaller, no cruise control, or CB either, etc. and in a few years you can pick up a used Indian for about $15K used if you really want one. http://www.cycletrader.com/find/search-results/Type-Motorcycle/Make-INDIAN/Zip-85004/Sort%2DYear:DESC/Radius-any/

Nice... That's the way to do it. Make your bikes compatible with others, if you are a newcomer. That way, your customers feel safe in purchasing from you, knowing that they can get their bike serviced and that there will be a pool of spare parts and aftermarket accessories readily available.
From what I can see, Indian is taking the rules of good business and standing them on their head, following the playbook for failure. It's sad to see...

They are not indians. The REAL Indian Motorcycle Company was the direct competitor to Harley-Davidson. They need to make a unique bike that harkens back to that era and price it at $15-18K out the door. If they cannot do that, they are no competition and mearly a fancy headlight, fenders and round heads on a Harley replica at twice the price. Its no Indian and IMHO just stupid. In all honesty I think the ill fated Drifter was more indian.
