Weber Carb Anyone? 7 Years, 3 Months ago
Does anyone have the Weber Carb setup from Jim at Wide Open Products installed on a 1800 BB motor and ran it for a little bit? I am on the edge of trying one of them out.

http://wideopenproducts.com/youryamahawebers.htm

I read Gram's writeup when he first test rode a stock RS at Tom's Farms and was sold (Steve's got a way with words)
Very impressed with his detailed description of the way the carb handled.

Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew:

Would you be willing to document the install and take lots of pics? We need a tech article for Jim's setup here in the clinic.

It has adjustable venturies, and it can be set for your bike's specific intake needs. Its the only one I have seen that does. It has the potential to be WAY too much carb with the wrong venturies in it, point being it can handle the flow requirements for a big bore and then some.

If you would be willing to document it, let me know. I might be able to get you an evaluation deal on it.

Certainly. I'll be going from a standard HC w/ported stock manifold and 45 Mikuni to the chrome Weber setup. Pictures are a given of course.
Let me know sir.

Thanks,
Andrew

What ever happened to this, did you ever install the weber carb?
The link to wideopenproducts is dead, did they go out of business?
I was liking the look of this chrome carb and was thinking about trying it out...my wife gave me some money for Jesus day!
Thanks

We did the install and got it up and running. The fit and finish on the manifold was not as good as it should have been.

Andrew opted to return it back to Jim. I would still love to run one, its a slick setup. But it takes some work to dial in, and goes lean for a fraction of a second under hard acceleration.

Its still being done in Harley circles.

I haven't heard from Jim in years. I think he got out of the business.

Along the same vein I wonder if anyone has tried boring out the stock carb to 42 or so. There is/was a company out there that does the work. Supposed to make quite a difference.

back in 1970 we were putting Webers on HD's. Slick set up and WAY better than a Tillotsen or Bendix...
