Depending on your orientation of the fairing you get almost a swirl effect. Sorry not the right word. This is at high speeds and can cause instability. I'll look if I can find the article for the angle.

Alright,t my memory was mistaken, or I couldn't find the same article. What I did find out is, although you have added weight to your bike the front end at highway and higher speeds is lighter than without the fairing.
Also even though they didn't state an angle they did say if buffeting is to bad a curve forward of the windshield will cure the stability. There is a company that makes these, personally I would use foam rubber grommets to change pitch of the shield or tilt fairing slightly forward.
This what I found if you come up with something else would like to hear. I would ride a few more times before changing anything. It does change handling and it might just be the fairing and you getting use to each other. Drastic but think about this driving a 428 cj with stick and then hop in a straight six automatic. You're reaching for gears and slapping the pedal and going no where fast. Yet, we adjust and are fine again with the straight six. Nahhhhh, give me the 428 cj all day, unless I'm on my bike.

Halfway off topic but ... I Love my Roadstar but My dream bike is an HD Roadglide ....especially the 09 s BUT It will be years before I can afford one so . The thing i like about them most is the Frame mounted Fairing . I have never seen a comparable After market Frame mount fairing except for the old Vetter's which are just to Euroopean looking . Has anyone tried to Retrofit a Roadglide Fairing to a Roadstar ??

Looks like it would attach to the mustache crash bar a around the underside of the gas tank. I have the crash bar on my bike it's in the tech section. A few of us put it on for looks or lowers. If you weld or know some one who does shouldn't be to bad to fab brackets. Might even get lucky and bolt on with a few drilled holes and tap or welded nuts. Take pics if you do would like to see it. I'm a batwinger and happy can even smile and no bugs mom!

I found the cause of my wobble. Because I have only attached the fairing to the sides of the triple-tree and my headlight just 'roams free' under the fairing, then it causes the faring to have just a little slack because its missing its headlight mounting point...when at high speeds, the fairing wants to rise-up just a milimeter and then the top ossilates on the mounts....hmmmm... I'm going to try adding some foam between the headlight and the fairing outter. I was going to do that anyway to create an air-proof/water-proof seal, but now I think it will also help with stabilizing the fairing by giving it an almost third mount point. I can see why you guys mount these things permanantly. I really am liking it!!!

I got my wobble problem fixed but in the strangest way. I was at Halls Ace Hardware looking at some tins signs to hang in the garage...it was an excuse to ride the bike today...anyway, on the isle with the chain link fencing I saw this 'L' shaped galvenized braket and noticed that besides being very stout, the hole spacing looked close to the hole spacing and size of holes as the Road Star windshild mount. The brakets were only $6 so I figured, what the heck, no huge loss if they don't work. To my suprize, the holes lined up perfectly and my faring leans back as its flush to the tripple tree and its strong enough to almost lift the bike up by the fairing!!!! I installed the 'redneck' mounts and my 4 inch windshield and took it on the interstate to around 80 and not even the slightest wobble and very minimal wind. AMAZING!!! I LOVE IT!!!!
Makcap, I have aquired a Jenson marine stereo with some fancy stock HD speakers for $100. The speakers look like they will mount straight up, but I am unsure as to how to mount the radio. Do I need some kind of box or something? Any suggestions for either? The instructions on the site are a little vaig about mounting brackets for the radio.
This is the most fun I've had in years....maybe I need to get a life!!
