Hubless Bike 3 Years, 3 Months ago
Not sure if this has been discussed, but I did not find anything in a forum search.

If you haven't seen a hubless scoot, it's worth a look. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWjqaGYHF78
Not sure if I like it enough to own one, but definitely a unique look.

I read a bit about the technology and there are apparently a couple of ways to do this. One is a simple drive wheel riding on the front of the rear tire. The other is was some proprietary system that hooks up to the rim. Anyone ever seen one in person or tried to build one?

I didn't like this bike as much as the 2 that Billy Lane built a few years ago. BTW, anybody heard anything about Lane's DUI case lately?

I saw a bike real similar to the one on You-tube a couple of years ago at Daytona Bike Week. It was a great looking bike. The hubless wheel came from a helicopter rotor is what I remember, could be wrong.

That would draw some attention on bike night wouldn't it?

We had dinner with Billy during Biketoberfest 08 and he cut his dreeds off, stopped drinking and was cleaning up his act. He did serve some time and is heading in the right direction , we hope. He's to talented to keep going the wrong way.

I like low, but I believe there is such a thing as TOO low!

If I can comfortably plant both feet on the ground, and look a little more like I'm in a standing position than a sitting one, that's low enough for me.

My V-Star 1100 custom is just right, and my R* gives me NO complaint.

My inseam is 32".

But I've got to admit, I like that totally open wheel look... it does cause one to do a double-take!

got to look good for court i suppose.

i have great respect for his work and innovation, but wiping out some bloke on a scooter whilst driving drunk just reads as a*****e to me.

if he mans up and takes whats coming without bitching about it or trying to get off on a technicality, heŽll go up in my estimation.

but not much.

I think what Billy Lane used on his was a helicoptor rotor.

Pretty cool. Wonder what it's like to turn her? Seems like you would be fighting some gyro forces to turn with the forks off cenetered like that.
