I'd look pretty funny wearing over the ear protection in Florida since we have no helmet laws here.

In Florida? Who would notice? Old people don't see you anyhow, and the young people might think it's cool? Try it, see what happens? Paint them the same color as your bike, put antena's on them or fuzzy stuff, might be fun who knows?

I use the simple reuable earplugs with plastic cord. You can get a three pack at Northern Tool for around $5.

I have been using foam ear protectors. I find that the wind noise is what is loudest or at least most annoying. Pipes really dont get to you unless they dump near you.
I have tinitus too and you wouldn't think I could hear anything over the ringing in my head. Between heavy equipment and crewing on a funny car before hearing defenders my hearing is way long gone.
You young guys wear the protection or you will be deaf old dudes like us!

I use the foam plugs since I can get them free from work. My employer is really proactive and wants us to use them whenever we do anything noisy, even at home. I find on long rides I am not nearly as tired feeling at the end of the day after wearing hearing protection. They are something like 26db attenuation and really block the wind noise while letting the wonderful purr of the pipes sound through. I wish I had worn these back in the days of Iron Butterfly concerts.

WHAT DID YOU SAY? lol I also use the foam roll up ones when riding. Sure helps with the wind noise in my 3/4 helmet. Really quiet in my full face, but can still hear traffic and sirens. Quite useful when riding behind someone with loud pipes.

I forgot to mention the fatigue factor. I realized 30 years ago during long multi-state trips on a Honda 450 without a windshield that hearing protection let me end the day feeling less whipped out.
Stupidly I didn't wear any at other times when lots of noise was around. I had a big hearing test that went on for hours in a sound proof booth. I come out and say how did I do. Guy says "been around much heavy machinery". Yes, I said "huh?"
