Looking for handlebar switch 5 Years, 4 Months ago
I want to install a handlebar mounted rocker (on-off) switch for controling highway lights on a roadstar. I've looked at dozens of websites but have only seen double switch combos, not single switches. Has anyone seen a single, handlebar mounted switch, preferably chrome??

thanks!!

If we can get Pop Rivet to pop in here , I believe I read a post of his saying he had done just that...I think it was a Kuryakn part.

Check this page out. I don't know anything about the company, but it's the only single switch I've been able to find.

Here is the Post with Pop Rivets switch mod, had this one saved in my favorites. I just have my lamps wired into the headlight switch, on w/lowbeam, off w/highbeam.

Yes i searched all over til I tripped on the Harley switch

My 2005 silverado has a separate stock connector and circuit with a relay for the passing lamps which only come on when the engine starts

Yes... the dealer had mine hooked up to the running lights at the time I was doin this when I discovered the separate connecter dangling unused in the Headlamp even with "PL" inked on it .so i then hooked to it

The Harley switch 77103-88 does come mounted to a little steel black bracket designed to mount to a mirror bolt which I put to good use mounting a voltmeter

After I located the switch a Kurakyn harness and switch kit became available... ... and what I strongly suggest for those who are wired to the hi or low or running lights and you get the switch
which was as expensive alone from Harley

Here's a picture (I hope) of a switch I got from Scootworks.com It's polished billit alum. and comes with the switch but no wiring. Runs about $25+S&H. It blends in well where I mounted it and is easy to reach. I filled in the large empty area with a vest pin I ground the spike off of.

Just out of curiousity. Why do people want to turn the passing lamps off? I'm 110% convinced it cuts down big time on people pulling out in front of me. Mine are on 24/7. Well, I mean while the bike is running There not on right now. I'm pretty sure anyway I gotta go check something

Musky

You are most correct

If wired to the headlight hi/low like some I dont believe as good as wired to the running lights as in your case ..on when the bike is running

However I like to switch mine off when idling in downtown traffic..easier on charging system..low revs
also at night comin up to the rear of a car ...If I dont want to blind the driver ...consideration for other drivers still exists
... and on/ off flicking can change them into Passing Lamps and not just aux running lights

Remember the need to pass is the on/off signal to the vehicle you are following

So with the switch you can do what you do ..PLUS...

I was used to having this control with my Harley and wondered why the hell
Yamaha put the switch out on the left passing lamp...shound be built into the cluster with hi/low beam switch

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2007/02/02 19:16
