We could arrange it by state, (rather than putting peoples' names in it) and also include trucking companies and wrecker services that are motorcycle-friendly, plus reputable dealerships in each city/state, campgrounds that are motorcyle-friendly, and hotels that are clean, safe, and cheap.
Maybe put it up in the Classifieds or Tech section or something, in a printable format, state by state, so a rider would only print off the states that they needed, rather than printing/carrying a whole book.
It could serve as a way for riders to meet up, render assistance to each other, and network. I know I'd feel a lot more confident about hitting the road, if something like this existed...
Good idea?
Ya know we had something like that on the Venture site. Listed people by state and if they could help with tools..trailer if necessary, lodging, riding partners, local info...all kindsa stuff.

I put that on mine before I went to Fl. last year.
I used some clear tubing I had laying around.
You should of seen the look on my face the first time I used it and accidentally hit the kill switch

Been using it for a few years now. I get weird looks and comments from people too. Even came out from work one day and it was pulled out from where I had it tucked in. No toucha da bike.
Works good except for sitting crooked from the extra bucks in my wallet.

For those of you who use the superslab, (especially on long-range touring rides), what are some strategies and tips for not ending up as roadkill, out there?
What lane do you generally try to stay in, on a six-lane highway?
What are the special dangers of the highway?
Increasingly, I'm looking at making 100-mile+ trips, and eventually, possibly culminating in a cross-country ride from Tennesee to my parents' home near Bakersfield, California and home to Tennessee again.
Most of your every day driving applies to long trips also.
You still have to pay attention to every thing around you.
As far as what lanes I ride in, I tend to stay in the middle lanes when in moderate traffic and will head towards the outside lanes in heavy traffic. I figure when traffic is moving good I want good lane changing options if I have to make a fast lane change. When It's heavy traffic I want to be able to get on the shoulder quick if traffic stops in front of me, in case someone in back of me doesn't.
If I come up on a semi. I try to put as many lanes between us as I can when I pass it. I've had to pass many of them up close and personal at 85+ and it ain't no fun.
Special dangers would be gator backs, semi's, speed (yours and theirs), wind burn, sun burn, dehydration, fatigue. Again nothing you wouldn't run into any day.
The biggest danger you face is addiction. I'd rather leave on a 1,000 mile ride then a 100 mile ride any day.
In fact I have three different rides I do here when I'm bored the shortest being 92 miles.
My favorite one is to fill up at home and get on route 9 heading north. I'll take that through the Adirondacks till I need gas up around the Canadian border and then ride home, it's around 360 miles round trip. Nice day ride.

It does'nt matter how far you ride.. Ride as though your invisible!
As far as things like lane choice or which side of the lane etc., those decision comes with experience an traffic conditions at the time.
Good luck with your riding and again YOU ARE INVISIBLE, NO ONE CAN SEE YOU!!!!

I just thought of something the other day while driving in snow covered roads.... If you ride like we drive when the roads are covered with snow, you should be OK.
Lot's of distance between you an the car infront of you; assume that people coming from side roads can't stop or might not stop; your not safe driving right next to someone because they might get hit, so create a big box around you the best yiou can, allow for lots of time to get where you are going, and if you get there early, GREAT!! Enjoy the extra time!
