Thanks for the part # Musky...and Doc for the devil's advocacy ... I didn't figure I needed new ones, but it's always better to have the knowledge...
Waiting to hear from Nemesis on the availability of the redesigned manifold for the 1700. It's supposed to be out this month. In the meantime I'll have some fun & grind some plastic to see how it goes...

You pretty much have to do it till the metal shows. That means you got rid of all that whatever it is they left on there. I have metal showing all over. Or that my op anywho.
OK. Enter Satans lawyer.

Rewind - revo lla gniwohs latem. I thought you were talking about lapping the mating surface where the O rings go.
Porting the manifold - I took it down to the metal right at the corners and then rounded both sides out till they both felt the same. So I have some metal showing in there but there is still rubber too.
I guess the word "Elbow" should have been a clue huh

Coug, I'm running the Barons stock ported job, So, I did not do it my self, but did notice a big difference between the hard corners in the stocker, and the smooth flowing turns of the Barons one. I don't recall metal exposed in the Barons manifold, but there may have been. One things for sure, there is a lot of rubber that can be removed, comparing the two.

when putting the manifold back on, do you use any grease on the o-rings, like the lithium soap, or do they just go on au naturel?
Thanks,

I put some wheel bearing grease on mine just to help hold them in place because with the thicker rings you don't have the little nubs in the groove to hold them.

And the stockers in good shape (not flat) will stay inside the lips just fine if handled gently.
