Ride a shovel all season? lol....unlikely. They're notorious for being something you have to tinker with constantly to keep em goin. Even that withstanding I'd still love to have one for myself. You'll likely split the time.

I think multiple bikes is almost a necessity. It all depends on what kind of riding you want to do that day.
I have a Goldwing and the Roadstar and still want a Buell Ulysses or a BMW Adventure for when the asphalt ends.
I like the Goldwing for the comfort, the cargo capacity, the stereo and the speed and I like the Roadstar for the laid back cruise and the lack of all those things the Goldwing has...

I've got 2. The other is a V-Star 1100 Custom, but the poor thing... I hardly ever fire it up. It sits for weeks and months at a time. I really should give it a more deserving home... but everytime I do get on it, I say, "Nah, this is a nice ride in its own right!"

But my R* is my first love.

I have my 06 R* and then the ol lady's v-star 650 classic. I also have a 1956 Zundapp mounted on a shelf in the corner of my shop, pretty neat old scoot. I would like to have another bike to kick around on like a bobber for in town rides but I currently have my shop tied up some buddies 3 other scoots....so no room for right now.

Hey silvasilv
I have a couple old CB750's (70, 77) I play with, but seems now most of my toy money is going to the Twisted Star. The only problem I can see is, which one gets my toy money this week.
I do plan on getting an older FXST down the road to play with, but will not get rid of the ones I have now.

Here is my second one. I am not yet willing to admit I'm and old man who just needs a fairing and tour pak on a bike and I still like to think I'm a bad a** biker. If the shovel is a good price and is a different style of your Road Star, i would go for it. Besides, you can still ride the road star and wear Harley shirts to confuse the locals and its nice to wake up in the morning and say "Hmmmm, what bike am I in the mood for today..."

Re:who here owns two bikes 3 Years, 3 Months ago
I own a '95 Vulcan and the '05 Road Star. When I bought the Road Star I had all intentions of selling the Vulcan. Even had a guy lined up to buy it but he wasn't able to come up with the money. Then the wife thought that she wanted to ride her own bike, so I decided not to sell the Vulcan so she could ride it. Well, that didn't pan out either. She decided that she felt safer on the back of mine than piloting her own. So now the Vulcan is my project bike......

But to answer your question, owning two bikes is great. I won't say it's a necessatiy, because it obviously isn't, but it's great to be able to take one out of comission for maintenanace (or whatever) and still have a bike to ride. And yes, you will favor one over the other, but it's nice to have a choice of which bike you want to ride to work in the morning. So in a word (or two), buy it!!!

Good Luck!!

In The Wind,
Aaron
