At my shop I sell Amsoil for $10.50/qt; if you double the oil change interval like they tell you to; effectively it is $5.25/qt. The original owner of my bike changed the oil himself once and couldn't figure why he could only put a couple of quarts in (he only drained the tank). When I got the bike I immediately changed it at 7,300 and then again at 10,000 used Amsoil and am changing every 10,000.

Just something to keep in mind, Amsoil says to change the filter at regular intervals unless you are using their filter. Not saying anything will happen but if it does........

"When using an engine filter other than AMSOIL Ea, change the filter at standard intervals."

So, if you have a way to get the bike almost vertical, you can change the filter without losing any of the $40/gallon precious liquid

If I was going to go 8000 miles (Twice our recommended interval) between oil changes I would just go with their filter and not have to deal with it. Not saying their filter is better but just to cover my backside.

Re:Amsoil? 3 Years, 2 Months ago
I am so surprized at how many riders doing their own maintence rely on the bike to tell them how well the oil is lubricating the engine. I listen to my bike as well but it just doesn't speak english to me. When I used to watch guys check tires on their big rigs on a pretrip inspection with a shortend piece of pipe or a stick of wood, I would ask if they could tell how many pounds of air pressure was in the tire by thumping on it. Most would tell me they could tell if it needed air by the way is sounded. I asked them if they could tell how much oil was in the crankcase by thumping on the engine too, lol. So I let 20 lbs out of 8 of the 18 tires on one rig. For a week none of the six different drivers on that rig found those tires low on air with their tire thumper. I ordered pressure gauges the next week for the drivers to use instead of thumpers.
Yep I agree as a driver my only job is to make sure the fluids are full. But as the owner operator of my motorcycle I want to know how those fluids are performing inside my engine. Listening to it just isn't enough for me. And saying hell I've used so-n-so brand for years and years and has always worked for me doesn't cut it for me either when technoligy makes improvements seems like daily. Fluid analysis seems to be the only way to be absolute about product claims and wheather cost and longevity are truly what drives sales.
Thoughts??????
Rick

Yes this is true, and the reason they want you to use that filter is that it is a better filter, It
s actually good for a year. But they also say change the filter when you change the oil so we are back down to 8K miles. Get the Chrome one, looks sweet! And also you must save the receipt and the UPC codes from the filter box and the oil containers.

I don't think you get your money's worth out of Amsoil unless you really use it the 8K miles. Although I have heard of people (Mostly on Iron Butt runs) who went way beyond that using Amsoil.
