Handlebar options ? 5 Years, 3 Months ago
I'm looking for opinions on handle bars for my Roadie. I'd like something either

a) taller, or

b) wider

but without being any closer to me. I know there are lots of different bars out there for the Roadie, but I'd like to avoid having to change all the cables, wires, hoses, etc. I have really long monkey arms and the stock handlebars are too close. I wind up leaning waaaaaay back, even though I have tipped the bars forward as much as I (comfortably) can without having my wrists at a strange angle. I thought about risers and a drag bar but I have a Midnight Cdn. Edition with the windshield, whitewalls, hardbags & no passenger seat (and very soon a Roadhouse 2-1 pipe), and I don't think a drag bar really goes with the whole retro thing I've got going.

Opinions ?

Rup

I love my bars, as they set me in a more comfortable position, but they have 6 inches of rise, 5 1/2 inches of pullback.
Now , I'm 6'4 and have to buy shirts (dress shirt) with 37/38 arm length, so I can feel where you're coming from. But these bars feel much better than stock. 2 cents,BB .
Oh, yeah, forgot to add, didn't have to change a thing (wires, cables,etc..)

Post edited by: Big Bear, at: 2007/02/09 10:34

I've got an 05 Road* Midnight Silverado, and had much of the same problems with the bars hitting me in the knees in tight turns. I'm 6'2", and have really long arms as well. I put on 16" apes, and all's well. ALL of the vibration is gone, and I'd have to say it's the closest thing to riding my sofa.

Post edited by: Tbone21, at: 2007/02/09 15:31

I'm seriously considering a set of 12 1/2" ape hangers. I know I'll have to do some cable changes and extend the wiring & brake line, but damn it'd look good !

One more week until the Roadhouse 2-1 classic with the flex-pipe headers and the shark fin tip show up !! The wait is KILLING ME ! We're actually getting some really nice early spring weather up here (Calgary, Canada) and I'd like to get 'er set up and out for a test ride.
