Float valve & needle MPG nightmare 2 Years, 11 Months ago
For 5 years was getting consistant 52 mpg with barons big air kit and setup. Suddenly milage droped to 23 mpg. Took carb off and checked everything visually. Decided to port manafold and go to 167 main. Still getting rotten milage. Then checked float level and found it way high. After numerous assembly and dissasembly found that it would only adjust to wide open or off. Looked closely at needle and could not see anything wrong with it. Installed another used needle and float became adjustable again. Milage came back up again (not sure how much yet). Have a new needle and seat ordered and will install. I had no idea that float level affected mpg that much. Hope this helps someone else who is having similar trouble.
