Ok guys

Who thinks Im pitchin For Castrol??

I use Mobil 1 V-Twin SuperSyn 20W-50

The main reason ..it is JASO MA rated for wet clutch

If your OIL does not have this rating put it in your car...period.

Its that simple... just look for JASO MA rating on the bottle... if it is not there DO NOT use it in a Road Star

or better yet... use it as Suntan Oil

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2007/02/09 18:27

My 05 Road* has been on Rotella T synthetic since the 3000 mile oil change. according to the Rotella T website its perfect for bikes as long as you don't worry about the ash content. I've not noticed any problems but again I'm riding in the Mtns of CO, WY, and MT the 5w40 is nice on cold morning starts.

Boy I want to get into this but oil debates go around and around and around and end up nowhere. One side is the tech paper people and the other side is real world riding experience and never the twain shall meet.

I agree, and I'm not really looking for a debate, just the educated consumers here on RSC.
Funny, as I generally stick my nose in here on most subjects, I haven't paid a whole lotta attention to the oil post, Now that I have to start making a choice , it's suddenly very interesting.

Hey BB, my dad was a trucker, and nothing went into his crankcase but Rotella T. Now for a bike, I'd have to back off of that one. But, what I did for mine was to switch to Mobile 1 vtwin 20/50 (synthetic). I haven't heard a peep out of the bottom of that 102 since I changed over.
How many miles have logged since the switch?

It's only been about 2K miles since switching. I was seriously thinking something was wrong before the switch, which is how I ended up on this site in the first place.
