All this talk about removing someone from your bike. I'm curious how the legal system see's it...I really don't know what your rights would be.. but it would be good to know before hand..

Hmmmm...only a consideration if there's witnesses...

Good point! I guess I'm just the cautious type, been burned once for thinking I was legal when I wasn't..

Has anyone ever caught a stranger sitting on their bike? How did you handle the situation? Hasn't happened to me yet, not sure I would be too friendly about it.

Both times at the NJ shore...first time I came off the beach and found a guy standing next to my bike with his kid (in a wet bathing suit) sitting on my bike...I walked up to him...asked him "does this look like a park bench"...he kind of shook his head and I said "get your f****** kid off my bike and dry the seat"...it was actually somewhat less friendly than it sounds...

Second time I was racing Hobie Cats off Barnegat Bay and came back to shore to find a friend of mine sitting on my bike chatting up my wife...I told him it would have been better if he was on my wife...talking to my bike; that would only get him hurt...he laughed, she DID NOT...I still have that bike (1982 Suzuki GS1100E) the wife is long gone...who says men cannot make commitments

I wouldn't have called it a "kid," though. "...get your crack-baby snotling off of my bike!"

And good choices too! Keep the bike ditch the witch! You can always get another, next one might be younger, better built and rich? Hang in there!

Pretty slow to anger unless you mess with family. Then ALL bets are off. While I love the R* don't consider it an absolute family member. Material possessions come and go but family is forever. Would I get ugly(er) if I saw someone messing with my bike? Guess I'd ask'em how they like it. Their answer would garner either an apologetic reaction (preferably) or how much ___________ I'd have to extract from their ___________ if there was any damage to the bike. I mean I worked hard for this possession. I kind like the "wife" suggestion but my wife would have a real problem with it. Her lawyer wouldn't but she would.

Never came across someone sitting on my bike... its a little different rider to rider, and my reaction would vary depending on how I was feeling that day. If it were an off day and they were ignorant... things could get messy. But as many have said, touching a man's bike is like touching a man's woman... you just don't do that. Or if you do, you're fair game. Only other person I let ride my bike though is my dad.

Without knowing in advance what kind of monster owns that bike sitting all alone... People should never venture to throw their leg over a bike that wasn't their's...

It's about simple respect. Some have it. Some don't...

I think a good response to finding somebody on your bike should go as follows:

"Do you realize your genetalia is less that 1/8" away from where mine typically is"?
(This is a positive if it's a woman and she's HOT. What an ice-breaker)

Anywhoo.....
