Great job glad to see the fairing worked out and the paint looks awesome. I think there is nothing better than taking an idea and making it yours. Hogg chopps put unfinished on e-bay and he thru me a deal on the hogg boxes. Looks like they have really taken off this winter don't know if you can get the same deal one never knows. Some day we will have that stout with the ironponys near by. Remember it better to be dressed than naked, unless there is a reason.

That's actually a hard question to answer. The color of the tank and fenders is called 'illusion blue'. In other words, it looks purple unless its in direct sunlight, then it turns a purple-blue hue. I tried to mimic that with the fairing, bags and tourpak and had more success with the fairing than the rest. My attempt at creating the illusion paint to match the rest of the bike was to first paint a base coat of marina metallic blue. Then followed by dark violet metallic pearl with lots of reducer (also known as thinner). Because the bags were in rough shape when I got them and required alot of fiberglass work, I put six coats of the violet on them to cover up my imperfect body work. It helped to hide the flaws but made the bags more purple than the rest. Irregardless of the hue irregularity the blending of the metallic and pearl makes for a nice paint job. Now...if I can just buff out the orange peal... Its always and ongoing project. Next is some blue tribal flames

Chico, no man, I'm a computer programmer by trade. Years ago I used to restore old muscle cars and bikes as a hobby but I haven't painted in over a decade. Felt good to be 'gunnin' again!! Love my new gravity-fed HVLP gun! I actually take your question as a compliment. Thanks! I'm really not that good...just OK. I think anyone can paint - it easy and fun. But, its the paint prep that takes so much time and patience: priming, bondo, fiberglass, sanding, priming, bondo, priming, sanding, repeat, etc etc then spot putty and if metal, welding then grinding the welds...AH! . Unfortunatley, I run out of both time and patience quickly, so I wind-up painting before perfection and it always costs me.
