It's really only going to look different from one side. Balance that against giving up stopping ability. I consider the front brake the most important so I wouldn't. My opinion anywho.

thanks for the replies...

nobull...what does that mean exactly. Alot of people may do it, but that is not good enough for me. I have to be able to understand the physics behind it (engineer in me coming out). I tend to follow musky's line of thinking but am open to other thoughts if there is technical backing for it....are there modifications out there that give a single rotor the same stopping capacity as stock duals?

I'm with Musky too. I've been told that about 75% of your stopping power comes from the front brakes. Might be even more with the Road Star as the bike rates at the top in the braking department in comparison reviews I've read. Seeing as the design was swiped from Yammi's R1 ramp rocket it's not really surprising. They are good, hi-perf brakes in my opinion.

As far as looks go? I think a big set of serious brakes on a hot rod is a good thing.

I have a single front setup and can lock up the front tire if I want .... how much more "stopping ability' can I use.

If you normally run two up then you may want to stay with a dual setup.

good point Doc. out of curiosity is the fact that you were running a single rotor what cause you to move to the R1 caliper? also following the "lock up" philosophy if you can lock a single rotor up while riding "two-up" is there a difference?

You cannot run a stock 1600 single front brake setup ... braking is unacceptable.

I run an R1 brake setup with a Warrior MC and SS lines. This setup gives me pretty much the same braking power as the stock 1600 setup. I can lock it up at about 30 mph (too chicken to try it at a higher speed ).

I don't think you could lock up a single setup riding two-up without some serious mods .... I certainly can't.

Just as in an auto most of you braking comes from the front. I'm not to say bad idea, Yami went to a single rotor on the front of the 950 when prior to that anything above a 650 had two. Doc has a point on one up. One up, one should be good. Maybe they took into consideration two because it is in tour class and they considered us loading them up as some do. (Me) But if you really want to clean it up, why dick around? Do this. http://www.360brake.com/

PS, I think Doc should do it and then do a How To on it. Only way his bike could look cooler.

I've drooled over it many times but could not justify the expense.
