The stock pipes were so quiet the cagers didn't know I was there. Switched to Speedstar Dragster Longs and fixed that problem. Great sound and plenty of it if I screw it on a little. Out of respect, I keep her geared down and throttled down in residential neighborhoods. I just have to go easy when I start up near my Montana or it sets the alarm off. To me it's the best of both worlds!

I had the stock pipes with the baffels drilled out and they sounded okay but I wanted louder. I went to cobra (shoguns I think) and removed the baffels now I got the sound I wanted... Even my friends on their HD's hate when they have to ride behind me... ha.

Just tried Stage I , but I like the sound of the original pipes that soulful sound. How many others like the original sound.

I liked the sound the day I bought mine, I have not heard it on another bike with only Stage 1. I've found that most go straight to stage 3 or Aftermarket pipes. I would be interested in hearing yours, but I will most likely stick to stock for now. My honey isn't a fan of loud pipes either.

Hey Jade68584 - - -I also run bubs. Got them used from my buddy who switched to V&H 2 into 1. Do yours easily discolor up at the top where all the heat is?

Something else you all may have noticed, any switch away from the stock pipes means a savings of many pounds. I was amazed at how heavy the stock mufflers were. Never knew of bike pipes to weigh so much!

I did the stage 1 a week ago and it was ok. Did the Stage 3 Wednesday and road 200 miles today around Daytona and I love it. Just trying to figure out whether to drill out the stage 2 as well or if it won't make a difference or not. Any imput on the stage 2 would be appreciated. I am having a minor problem with carb coughing at low rpm idling but I am sure I can make a few adjustments to the PMS to correct that.

It's probably just me but I am confused. You say you went to stage 3 and now your trying to figure out whether to drill out the stage 2? Can you clarify this because I thought if a stage 3 had been completed, then the stage 2 was already done. Are you saying you skipped the drilling of stage 2 when you did stage 3?
