Wish I new you had em about a week ago. Had stock exhaust with all guts removed. Loud and nasty. Just the way I like it. However the guy that owned the bike before me and did the work beat the crap out of the slip on mufflers. Woulda been a taker but went with a set of V&H shortshots with no baffles. Loud and a tad nastier. Like it even better. Just wish there were a set loud enough to keep people from knowingly and forcefully coming over into your lane . Oh Well.

Might be a tad tough for me to get one pulled, shouldered, and pointed while trying to divert at the same time! Although a darn good idea not quite sure about loaded longarms on Texas roadways. Used to no problem but now I think a little different.

can you give me some subjective differences? Lower/same tone? considerably louder? definitely need to adjust carb/perf loss?

I am considering it at some point...but do like stage 1 quite a bit.

Stage 3 is definitely louder, and has a deep throaty tone. It is not obnoxiously loud though. I was afraid it would be but it is actually not loud enough for me. Here is a link to my Stage 3 Sound.

My 3" Hard krome Long shots dont always set car alarms off....

One time i was heading down one of those nice windy lake side roads at a fairly good clip other guys following behind me and some tard in a little jamcan car decided to pull out infront of me. Not like slam on the brakes but like you couldnt have waited for me to go by and now im gonna have to drive behind you for 20 minutes at 30kms. Anyway, i pulled in the clutch and took a handfull of throttle. I could see they guys duck and cringe in his car. He imediately pulled over and gave me he sorry mr. wave.

So not only do loud pipes save lives, but they also save time. LOL

Surprised no1 else is running this setup... 2 into 1 V&H Pro Pipe HS with the stock packing removed and the HD cap installed. Loud as all hell! (already on the R* when I bought it...) Looks Mint!

Thanks. It is always hard to tell in the videos without a comparison. Does it sound lower freq wise, or just louder? Less of the fluffling noise I am sure.

Did you rejet as well? I can't tell much right now as it is so cold. I ran it this weekend at about 40F, and didn't have any issues I could tell (no pops on decel, acted correctly after going WOT from 50-70, nice slow idle), but usually I will be in the 60-80F range when I ride. From what I have read, bikes run leaner as it gets colder...(you have to richen to compensate), although moisture in the air can also affect it so it isn't an absolute.

I am running premium gas just in case (I think this counteracts pinging, which if I understand can also be a byproduct of overly lean). After it warms up I will ride it more then inspect the spark plugs for indications and then go to stage 3 pipe mod and check again.

Re:Loud Pipes 3 Years, 2 Months ago
well I went ahead and went to stage 3. It is louder but also sounds better to me, so I am happy with that part. Also much cleaner looking than the drilled holes!

One thing I am not if it in my head or not...but I swear I can feel the difference in power. The low end torque feels less...not as much pull. But on the mid to top end it pulls harder. Overall I gained more in the mid/upper than I lost, but I am surprised I noticed a difference.

Anyone else have a similar experience? I am very glad I made the jump though (less fluffling for sure). It is just below 50 F and I did get it to pop once. Normal decels no problem, but I really got on it up to 80mph and then cut throttle completely and had one pop.

Sorry I didn't see your previous question about the sound on Stage 3. I have not noticed any difference in low end torque but that doesn't mean I didn't lose any. I hadn't had my bike long at all when I did my stage 3 so I didn't have a good feel for the torque. I am sure I lost some but not enough for me to noticed with my limited time riding this scoot. You should not need to rejet. Mine pops like pop corn machine. Well, not that bad but I am sure that if I took off the AIS that would go away.
