All those things can be purchased after the fact it doesn't mean it was a Silverado. Mine looks like a Silverado but it WAS just a straight Midnight R* until I got my hands on it.

That is true which is why I was asking in the original question....read the subject name of the original post....<G>

The parts that were on this bike were all original and i purchased the bike from the 1st owner. The bike only has 8500 miles on it and i got it dirt cheap. This is my second Roadstar and I knew the potential of this bike when i first seen it.

Glad I bought it.

Beginning vin# JYAVP17E*5A0001243. It looks to be a Roadstar Midnight Silverado buy the chart I have in the yami manuel.

hope this helps get you on the right track.

The Yamaha OEM part code for an '05 XV17amtc is a Roadstar Midnight.

The code for a Siverado in '05 is either XV17ATT or XV17ATTC.

I found out that mine 5VP6 is a XV17ATT for sure...which is a Silverado model.

Just found it on a parts supplier web site.

I will still call the dealer tomorrow and inquire on my actual VIN number.

There is no such thing as a standard Road Star after we riders get our hands on it.

Hey Sooner -

Welcome to the clinic. I checked out your link, and you have a pretty good stable of bikes. I especially like what you did with the black one (before and after the bags)..

Re:How can I find out the model of my Roadstar 3 Years, 2 Months ago
Thanks a lot. I have always been a fan of Roadstars. I actually ride a 2008 Harley Davidson Street Glide. I found this 2005 Roadstar with no front end and decided to taqke it on as a project mainly so my son can ride with me.

Thanks for the compliment...I may go with apes like yours...that is a good clean look.

Thanks. I'm tall, so the apes fit me quite well. I've been having wild ideas about customizing this old girl, but I sure like it the way it is (except I want some roadhouse duals, a fairing, chrome the wheels, relocate fuel pump, get some passenger floorboards, etc., etc.). Now, you have given me an awesome idea. Buy a wreck in pretty good shape and let that be my project. C'mon economy, daddy needs a to buy a wreck (as I roll the dice against the wall) !!!
