I was on my way to work, following a mini van and Ford Ranger, a Tri-axel coming at us blew a tire. The driver looked in his mirror at the back of his truck, then came over the centerline and side swiped the Ranger. That sent stuff flying everywhere. Looked like the movies, where airplanes shoot down another plane then fly through the debris. There was also a dump truck with a paving rig on a trailor behind me. All I could do was dodge the debris flying toward me, and hope the dump truck got stopped. A piece of the mirror of the ranger hit my clutch lever right by my fingers was all I got hit by. It all happened in a matter of a couple of seconds. No one was hurt, thank goodness. I had to shake the lump in my shorts down, the lady driving the mini van got a busted windshield. The Ranger was messed up, but not crunched. When the guy in it got out, he was a one armed dude I see in town all the time. I made it to work on time, just felt like I had a smell following me. LOL Just be cafeful out riding, you never know what can happen.

Glad to hear your safe

I had a close one Sunday... fellow in a new Acura, obviously in a hurry (probably for no good reason, ran a stop sign and pulled out in front of me, THEN he saw me and booted the gas, crossing in front of me while I'm staring him down and shaking my head. If he didn't, he should have know he'd been a complete (expletive deleted). I don't think cagers are thinking bikes up here just yet... we're still invisible the very first good days of the season.

Everyone please be safe, give lots of room around you for stuff like this. This is probably the worst season for bikes, lots of them out there, cage's with windows up and not thinking of you being there. So drive like you are invisible.

Remember to watch the wheels on the vehicles at stop signs, not the driver! They will look right at you and pull out anyhow, and swear on their mothers grave that they never saw you.

Glad you are okay

As the weather gets warmer there will be more of these stories. Some because there will be more bikes on the roads and some because the "weekend warriors" that only ride when its over 85* will be on their bikes.

Sure glad your ok. It's a bit nerve racking when you run across a cager not paying attention. I just ordered a Stebel horn and harness and can't wait to get it installed on my R*. At 139db, I'm sure I won't have any problem waking up the cagers and getting their attention.

I'm sure you looked like one of those NASCAR drives trying to weave through wreck debris.

Living right comes in handy at times like that, so you must be all caught up on your good Karma.

Very happy you got through it all with just the memory of the experience.
