I was wondering what the advantages were of having the stiffer spring. How does or would it effect the handling and ride comfort of the bike?

Got the stock spring on mine but adjusted for more stiffness. Seems to take bumps a bit better. Guess it's aimed at 2 ups for a better ride. Handling wise, I'm not sure. Someone who has the setup will address it better.

I'm betting if your spring was stiff while you were on the bike, that might be uncomfortable. Probably even embarassing... laugh:

Mine is 200 lbs over stock progressive and after I took the lowering kid off I ran it down as soft as it would go. It handles good and feels good I haven't done any long two ups with the wife yet so I may stiffen it up.

I have the 990 spring on mine and it rides really nice, not as mushy as before, when I have the unit on the back, I don't bottom out and she handles like a dream.

You only need it if you need it.

I like the stocker, my wife will never ride with me, she thinks I'm nuts, I weigh 170lbs wet and the stock suspension does just fine..If she were to decide to tag along, I probably would need more spring............. it just depends on your situation.....

I had to go stiffer on mine. It was great with just me at 220 last year, but with my wife and she is only 115 we needed more.
