Yeah, I took a little road trip today - couple of hundred miles around east Texas and western Louisiana. Been riding around town and around the lake here most of the winter but this was the first time in awhile I've had the roadie out on the big highway. The first sixteen miles (from my house to the Interstate) were tough. It's Spring and that means pothole-city down here. I guess the road crews don't do a lot of maintenance in the wintertime. Anyway, it was pretty rough. Couple of times I thought I was in Arizona and had just driven off into Meteor Crater. Just a word to the wise - keep an eye out for those suckers.

After I hit the Interstate it was clear sailing to Shreveport/Bossier. Man, I kept passing all these other folks. Motorcycles EVERYWHERE. Weird. Anyway, when I got to Bossier City I pulled into one of my favorite casinos and immediately noticed a sign that said "Motorcycles Right - Customers Left - Parade is Forming NOW." Ahem. I think I'll pass on that parade thing. So I hooked a left and into the casino I went.

Pulled into the garage and there was a guy unloading his Harley from a trailer. While I shut down the Roadie and locked things down he and his significant other got their designer gear on and headed off toward the parade group. I checked out his trailer plates. Oklahoma. Maybe a 200 mile ride on a beautiful day. I don't get the trailer thing on days like this.

Anyway, it was bike weekend in Shreveport/Bossier. They tell me there was a bike show and some other stuff going on. I just hung around the dice tables with a bunch of other folks who weren't riding in the parade.

I'm up here in michigan they use salt on the roads all winter and it really tears them up .Last Sunday I tried to go for a ride to Ohio about 50 mi's got on the E-way and it was so bad with pot holes I ended up cancelling my trip after about 10 mi's of dodging pot holes. Some so big you could ruin a tire or rim, Just wasn't worth it. The road workers are working as much as they can to fix them should be OK soon.

You guys don't know what a pot hole is! I bet you see a little wee hole in the road and go.... Ohhhh. We have a number to call up here when we loose our bikes in the road. Honest to god we do!
We call 311 and ask the city to send a tow truck out to lift our bikes out of the road and then they send a big asphalt truck to pour a filler in to the crater.
This goes on till fall when they switch over to spreading salt on the road so we can start it all over again.

One of the many advantages of living in Pittsburgh.

Poker run yesterday... The road was in horrible shape! At one point, our run carried us around one of the local lakes. I spent as much time avoiding shitty patches of road as I did, looking at the lake.

It was a good run, though. Raised a bit of money for Multiple Sclerosis.
