Mr. C, unless I'm mistaken, you were supposed to post pics and you didn't.

That's not too far off! I took a few pictures, but was not happy with them. The finish still had a "haze" that I have been trying on and off to make better. They are definitely shiny and reflective, but I can't get that mirror finish. Read many articles and tried different things. I'm about at the "good enough" point!

I have been working on multiple projects and I've been away on business, but it's time to get the damn thing back together!!

Try some of this Rolite stuff.

You know the one about not being able to polish a turd? This stuff just maybe could disprove that old saw.

Only guessing but I think you may have rushed one of the 'stages'. Each grit of sandpaper is used to sand out the marks of the previous grit. If you don't do that then the final polish will show those 'scratch' marks ... it will take you forever to buff then out.

I wish...did them all!! Started with 120, then 360, then 600 dry, then wet, then 1200 dry, then wet, then 1500 wet. All with my orbital. Moved over to the sisal wheel with white compound, then new sisal with red. Finished with a canton buffing wheel.

The only thing I can think of is that my bench grinder is not fast enough. Even read where talcum powder removes swirl marks...noth'in!

120, then 360, then 600 dry, then wet, then 1200 dry, then wet, then 1500 wet.

Too much space between 600 and 1200. I would have done 120 dry, 200 wet, 400 wet, 800 wet, 1200 wet and then buff with rouge followed by white.

You usually check if the sanding marks are all out by sanding 90 degree to the last sanding direction. Using orbital is OK but tough to know whey you've sanded enough.
