Do you think that I've run it long enough to cause carbon buildup that may be a problem, and if so is there a treatment that any of you might recommend?

I doubt it. Carbon build up occurs over a longer period of time than 4 tanks. just put some 85 in her and run the piss out of it.

4 tanks ain't much. I wouldn't worry. But you could get some Seafoam or other cleaner and put a couple ounces in the gas for 2 or 3 tanks to help clean things up. Also take the bike out and hit the rev limiter a few times. That helps shake things loose.

Yes got to watch that flame propagation with the higher octane gases. If you are running the hi compression pistons you could go to 89, but I wouldn't go any higher like the minds have said!!

I kind of though I'd try 89 when mine comes back with the 10.25:1s, I figured I'd end up at 91 though... maybe not?

With the low compression engine you will not get as complete a burn of the gas when running high Octane. That's why you tend to get more carbon build up. At best with High Octane you are wasting money, at worst you are helping SVS along. jmoNot that SVS again HELP

i have heard it said that if you break in your engine on 92 for example you should leave it there. Is this an old wives tale? If it is bogus....why?

Thanks
