I've had a sears jack before and it never gave me any trouble. With the number of sears jacks sold you're bound to run into a problem now and then. And it also might just be the operator.

I have a sears jack. I bought it when I had my 650, but had to modify the width beacuse the tranny on the 650 wouldn't fit between the runners. It is about 2 inches below the frame. I haven't changed it back, but it works fine with my roadie. Only problem with the wider runners I can't change oil using it. The runners covers the reserve drain plug... It sure makes cleaning the bike alot easier though..

Post edited by: Jreed, at: 2007/02/20 09:41

I have the Pep Boys jack, it's okay at best. Looking at it you can tell the craftsmanship isn't the greatest. I wish I'd have gotten the Sears jack but I'll use what I have for now.

I bought the Sears jack several months ago and have used it on numerous occaissions. It works great, is very stable and makes cleaning the scooter much easier. If you need the scoot level when you are working on it this jack helps. You can also use tie downs to secure it to the jack so you can really wrestle with those loctite sealed bolts. I am pleased with the Sears unit, but there may be better ones, and certainly are cheaper ones ie. Harbor Freight.

I paid $100 for my Craftsman m/c jack a few years ago. I could kick myself now - they go on sale about every month or so!

Anyway, I love mine. Compared to the Big Red sold by Pep Boys, Sam's and Wal-Mart, I'll take the Craftsman every time.

Thanks.

Re:Bike Jack 5 Years, 3 Months ago
Hey there Cougar, I've seen the jack in Sears and it looks like a nice one. Before I saw the one at Sears I had already purchased one at harbour freight. I like the frame (good and sturdy)and the price seemed to be right. It was a little over a year the jack started leaking, (I don't use it that often). The pedal to lower the jack there is a plunger with an 'O' ring was the culprit. I went back to h/f to see if they would do anything for me but it was out of warranty. Tried a o ring from home depot and it leaked shortly after. Took the plunger to a hydraulic shop and they said the groove in the plunger was cut too wide. Ordered a plunger and a couple of o rings from h/f so far it's still working. I recomend paying the extra at sears or getting extended warr from h/f if you want to buy one from them.

I bought two of the Sears jacks on sale for $59 each one was for my buddy. BHole has yet to pay me for it. I saw the same jack in Walmart last wek for the same price $59. It is a good jack just hard to get out of the garage because id all the junk I got like woodworking tools and welders.
