Listen, there are two kinds of bikes. Those that live in a garage and get waxed once a week and after 10 years and 2k miles, look as good as the day they left the show room floor.
Then there are our bikes, we do the best we can, we wash wax, love, clean, buy chrome and gizmos for. But we ride the crap out of them.

Your going to get some pitting on your engine fins, shy of having them pulled and redone, some things your just going to have to live with. That my friend comes with age and riding, be proud of it.

You could always use High grit sandpaper. If the pitting is light, I would go 600 or higher.

You might take a scotch brite pad and litely buff the fins and they should brighten up. Just another idea.

That isn't pitting of the fins the whole engine has eather paint or protective finish on it. What you are seeing in chips in the finish I think. It is just like the finish on the shinny part of the cast wheels those too tend to chip and appear pitted. Heck just ride it and keep it clean.
