Imagine Darth Vader's breathing in the background. "Musky come over to the dark side...." Makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up doesn't it? I can't really explain it that well but from what I remember in some of my science classes the light we perceive is made up of electromagnetic energy in the visible spectrum. So the color you perceive when you look at something is the color of the light the object is reflecting not the color it actually is. It's kind of like the color you see is the color it isn't because the object absorbs the color it is. The cones in your eye's retina perceive red, green, and blue with various cells having different sensitivities to different wavelengths. The rods deal with intensity not hue.

Black is the absorption of all the light wavelengths we can see, it is the absence of color. So Musky your bike isn't white it is actually red green and blue reflected light all mixed together in the right proportions to look white.

I know you guys are rolling your eyes... but I think this stuff is interesting. I know I'm weird but hey I'm not hurting anybody. Later I'll share my theory that black bikes are slower because of soaking up all that light, light is heavy man. I mean it weighs a lot. Black is also hot, not Halle Barry hot temperatue hot soaking up all that energy makes heat. All I know you don't buy a black car in Texas unless you want to be hot.

So Doc's bike is not-red and Musky's is not-white. Me I'm not-right, not-white and definitely got my head screwed on too-tight..

Post edited by: Brutha, at: 2007/02/24 07:02

The way I remember it is The band of visible light is one of 7 types of electromagnetic wave lengths and is called ROYGBIV for Red,Orange,Yellow,Green,Blue,Indigo, and Violet, and white is perceived when all the colors of visible light reach the retina at the same time and the absence of any of the colors from visible light give the effect of nothing"Black".....Coug
