I would not trade my EFI for the world, I simply love it...But I guess you have to own an 08/09 to really understand why

I'd have to agree with Rand1965 on the fuel economy. Once you figure out how to jet, it's great. GJCARVING and I did 200 miles of mountains and twisties yesterday, and my 2004 averaged a little over 46 MPG, and that's running at 7000 ft elevation, mostly around 3000 RPM and with a 31T front pulley...

I'm a little partial to carbs. It's nice to know I can adjust roadside, if necessary, with a little screwdriver instead of a laptop. And if my fuel pump dies and leaves me stranded in a vacant parking lot at 11 PM in Espanola, NM, I can just bypass the fuel pump and ride home...not that that ever happened to me, of course...

good points RK .....besides you can not get someone in this day and time to let you in to use a phone if you breakdown much less borrow their laptop for a few minutes but I would love to have a 2nd Roadie with an EFI to play with I remember going from a slide rule to the pocket calculator was traumatic for some in the beginning hmmmm and a computer might have fit on a SEMI trailer ...sorry..... rambling on here ...Coug

Funny, I've been thinking a second Roadie that was carbed would be fun.. It could be my bomb around town with apes and no baggage bike. I do like the EFI though.. no choke, no petcock, key on, whirrrrrrr, crank and fire. And with my new pipes on there, somehow, this bike is amazing me with how Harley-esque it sounds, esp. at idle. It sounds better than I ever thought it could.

When the Harley guys are standing there bobbing their heads up and down as you pass, you know they're digging the sound of the RH Dooleys...

I have an 08 EFI and I can't find any drawbacks other than it don't have that cool lope of an idle like carbed does.

What I meant by "Small" drawbacks, I was really referring to it being hard to get some aftermarket parts like exhausts, there are less options with intakes, you can't get rid of your fuel pump, you have less gas capacity, meaning less total miles per tank... those sort of "Small" drawbacks. Not cutting it down, the upsides were mentioned too! Boy, some people are so sensitive

I wasn't pissed by your post, all I was saying was I haven't noticed any drawbacks other than the cool idle that you can get with a carb. Some people are so sensitive. One person's "small" drawback is another person's "who cares".

I've got a cool "lopey" idle. It just cost you a new exhaust and intake...

And, there's no less mods for an 08-09 than there are for any other year. Trust me on that...
