Thanks Curt! I haven't had it out on a trip yet, but I bet this driver's backrest will help a great deal on long rides. (for us with back fun, a long ride can be 30 minutes sometimes)

The bracket was really easy to make. I used a cut-off saw to cut the 3/16"x2" flat steel to length and make the slot on the bolt end, a grinder (or the cut-off saw again) to clean up/shape edges, and a gasless MIG to attach tabs for the two lower pad bolts. Without a welder I would have just put a 1/2" strap across the upright for the two bottom bolts. The rest was just bending the upright at the right spots. You can hardly see it except for what's above the pillion seat which is only 2 3/4". A piece of black leather/vinyl would hide that easily, but it doesn't look bad at all.
