I CAN tell you that you can add a t-bar like the one I installed (5 inch rise, 6 inch pullback) and it requires no modification whatsoever to the bike. There was still room to spare in the cable/wire dept. I don't think ape hangers will go stock, but many bar styles will.BB

I have another question, will any 1 in. bars work on the road star? I know that the controls will fit, but I don't know about that hole that is on the right side of the bar, that the switch housing fits in too. So can I buy any 1in bars, or do they have to be road star specific? Thanks

I'm actually just in the process of changing my bars out for higher ones. I haven't received the new ones yet but here's what I've determined so far:

- Stock bars ('05 Roadie) are roughly a 7.5" rise, 10" pullback and 32" wide.

- The stock throttle cables are actually quite long, and would probably work for bars a couple inches taller, wider, OR further back (but not both or all three !)

- The brake line does not have much slack at all, but you'd only have to replace the section from the lever to the splitter under the lower triple tree.

- You'll most likely have to replace the clutch cable (cheap) and extend the wiring (easy) if you go up/back/wider by more than an inch or two.

Personally, I'm putting a set of 12.5" rise & 34" wide apehangers on because my arms are too long and I can't tilt my handlebars forward any further without putting my wrists at an uncomfortable angle. I'll be replacing the throttle cables, clutch cable and brake line with braided stainless as well as extending the wiring and running it throught the handlebars for a nice, tidy look. .

I'll let you know if I find any surprises when I try to install the new bars.
