rear tire 3 Years, 1 Month ago  
do anybody know how wide of a rear tire can i go with minimal mods on 2004 midnite star

160 = no mods
180 = some grinding
over 180 it takes a lot of bucks....Do a search and you will find a lot of info on this...

I read here that 160 is the biggest with a stock rim 180 will fit if you grind the stock subframe of the fender. I have a 160 with no problems.

I just put an Avon Venom on my 2000 RS with no problem but to go larger it seemed i would be pushing it ...... not for clearance, squeezing the tire to much on the spoke rim .....

I went with, what the place I bought my most recent rear tire, an *upgraded* rear Metzler 170 with out any ill effects after 500 miles.

You sure it was a 170 and not a 160? Metzler's *upgraded* size is a 160...incidentally, thats what I mounted about a month ago
