More of a personal preference kinda thing. For me, I don't like the solid chrome ones as on longer rides my hands would start getting sore. Not a problem if you always wear gloves (particularly some with gel pads in the palm), but I don't so I went back to the ISO grips.

Same thing... I have some solid chromes on my 1100 V-Star Custom and my hands tire a bit sooner. Have ISOs on my R*, and they are definitely more comfortable for longer rides. The chromes are plenty good, but the ISOs are even better.

Looks cool but as you've already gathered they are not comfortable ... also a lot colder in cold weather .... and I'm not talking about FL cold.

I have solid chrome with engraved flames. Don't mind them even did a 1,000 in 24 hours. Only down side is when it is cold it's cold when it's hot you better be wearing gloves at first. freaken hot.

If you're set on metal grips but think chrome is too smooth, check these out. Get the matching pes for the full effect. I've seen these in person and pictures don't do justice. They are sweet!
