front end wobble 3 Years, 1 Month ago
I am not sure where to turn? So here I am I have a wobble or a shaky vibration in my front end when the bike slows or is being geared down. I have talked about re-lacing tire new tire (only 3000 km on it) any input just doesnt feel right

Bruzer.....expect your tire to be your culprit. My experience on the Roadie as my tire was wearing out , anyhow. BB

First thing to do is put it on a lift and check for looseness in the front end bearings by pulling fore and aft on the tire. May need to tighten the bearings. If that is good, check wheel bearings for looseness. If both are okay, tire may be scalloped.

Check your tire pressure. Mine will do that if it gets a little low.

Mine did it when the air pressure was 1-2lbs low. I also just got my new tire on and that cured it. I got almost 16K on the fist tire and had the headset re-packed. Rides just as smooth and no wobbles now.

My '02 did that when I let go of the grips at low speed (35mph) decel. I tightened up the steering stem bearings and it is a lot better.

I plan on tearing it apart and replacing them and wheel bearings, since my scoot has 41,500+ miles on her.

I had to tighten the steering.. the bearings get loose after a bit of riding and when the bike was on the lift, I could not move the tree back and forth, but the steering would fall over from side to side real easy... tightened it up and back to perfect no wobble.

I would start with a check of the bearings on a lift. Relube and retorque. Also check tire wear pattern if cupped it can cause a wobble. If you have spoke wheels check the spokes to make sure none are loose. Tap with a small wrench they shoud ping if tight and dull sound if loose. If loose you may need to have the wheeel trued. Is the tire balanced? If it was and the weight is gone now that could also be an potential wobble. Make sure you check it on a smooth road as a rough surface may also cause some movement.

Well i just had the same thing happen as you and i found out that my tire had been installed with the rotation going the wrong way and it caused the tire to cup so you might want to check out the rotation first and if its wrong your gonna want to change the tire ,and don't let them put wheel weights on the rim insist on the wheel weights that go on the spokes it works better
