Wow, just saw this thread. Musky, did you not get your Wheaties this morning? This thread will not stop the comments, but hopefully will change a few attitudes. BTW, I agree BMW riders are an arrogant bunch too.

They do have brand loyalty over there at HD. Most of us (on this site) will buy the best bang for the buck regardless of brand. I'm not tied to Yami. I like my bike, but I don't pretend its the best bike out there; but I'm happy with what I have though I do want a touring bike (either Honda GoldWing or HD Ultra Classic (I'm torn)).

I rode a Ultra Classic last year and was impressed by the responsiveness, power and agility compared to my R*, but it wasn't a perfect bike either (felt small and the engine exhaust was too hot). I've heard HD has fixed the heat issue by re-routing the exhaust in '09.

Slyguy your right about the heat from the exhaust. And yes Harley did something about it in 09 the back pipe is run under the frame to the left side which keeps the exhaust away from the driver & passenger. Great idea! I hate the heat I get from my back pipe on my freedom duels on my R*! I need to make some kind of shroud. And your also right the brand bashing is not going to stop but maybe just maybe some here will listen up and stop!!

I got some food for thought on this article. Did any of ya know that way back in the 50 or 60s harley was in partnership with a Jap co. Guess which one ? yep what is now Yamaha. Also back when the boys in Milwalkee made , what I believe was the mistake of letting AMF take control of their bikes , Willie D used a idea he seen from that era and designed. wolla the dyna jap boattail fin and all . But that is all good. Dyna bikes are some of the best riding. Like a sporster on steroids. I personnaly like the Electroglide Standard. Now lets really take a look at yami bikes verses Harley. other than the v-twin shape it is totaly different. I mean did harley copy from Indian or Excelser or Henderson. No . It was a style. mostly and American style.Iv,e ridden a lot of scoots in my 36 yearsof riding and Yani seem to have treated me good. Hey but I have friends that still ride their old shovel heads and wouldn,t trade them for nothing. Thats all good too. But I haven,t had anybody turn their nose up to me that was riding Honda Kaw BMW etc. But a bunch of these HD guys do. Then they see who I am . Funny because my cousin is VP of a local cpt of MC and when I go their I have to park off property because I don,t ride HD. Thats cool though because most of these guys remember that I used to scoot on those too. But I choose what I believe is a superb machine. I don,t care if they park in front of my house ha ha. Hey where all bro. We all have the common bond of 2 wheels and a engine. well guess I,ve rambled enough. ride hard , ride safe , ride forever

Question for you. You say that other then the V-twin shape it is totally different? What engine are you looking at?
And Willie G. Davidson did not design the dyna until 1991 so what do you think he copied?

True man, after the war Harley sold blueprints and tooling to Japan, starting their entire motorcycle industry. The bikes produced were EXACT copies of Harlet... er, Harley (honest typo, I swear) flatheads. I can't recall what those bikes were called but if it wasn't for Harley, non of us would be riding Roadstars. I love Harleys, I've built and rode a few, just like other brands. What bugs me is the Billy Bad A$$ attitude you run into but you find that everywhere you go, Harley rider or not.
