Front Brake Lines . . . Q's 3 Years ago
Hey guys . . . just to ask a few (and I'm sure dumb) questions about the front Brake Line :

1) Can I just replace the "top" part of the brake line only ?? (by the top part I mean just the hose that runs from the Master Cylinder to where it splits to the 2 discs)

2) Does it have to be from a Roadstar ?? can it be from other bike ??

3) Does anyone have an extra brake line that would want to sell for a good price ?? I know I can eBay it , but I figure that what better place to get something for my Salma , than the place where everybody has their own "Salma's"

I hope I make sense on what I'm asking , by the way I have 16 inch apes on my Salma , and I did not purchased the brake line , it was a gift from a friend , do not really know what or where it came from , it is not stainless steel or anything , it is a black brake line , it almost looks OEM , but it does fit (remember I have apes on her)

Any info will be greatly appreciated , thanks guys !!

Hey Loko, Yes you can replace just the top section, I'm doing exactly that at the moment as i have just ordered some apes for my bike and instead of laying down lots of dollars straight away, im only doing the top brake line. Will change the others to SS later on. I suppose you could use any brake hose as long as the banjo fittings are the correct size

Loko I changed out my top brake line also. I had a local guy here in Arizona make the line to the exact length I needed. If you look around the San Diego area I'm sure you could find a shop that makes custom lines for race cars and motorcycles. It was cheaper then a pre-made line.
And Aussie is right any brake line will work as long as the banjo fittings are correct.

If there are any motorcycle salvage yards around your area you might be able to find one that will work.

Loko you need to take a tape measure and just measure for yourself to see how long the cable needs to be. I purchased my line 8 years ago so I have no idea how much they would cost.
