If your manifold is angled in such a manner that you cannot move the carb out without it touching the tank, have you looked at some radiator hoses. They come with various bends and you may be able to find one, or cut a piece from one, so that it angled down and the carb is lowerd a bit.

Yes Doc, it doesn't explain the stock setups, but if the stock setup is right on the edge of boiling, then differing riding habits may be the common factor in puke or don't puke with a stock setup.

I would say because the stock air box and fuel pump are creating a heat sink. MS1700 and I have had a few brain storming sessions to say the least on this. I'm willing to say that a aftermarket air filter or a modification like Mr C or my soon to be done modified pro flo would funnel more air creating less heat.

If everyones having heat issues, I was wondering if anyone's thought about trying an oil cooler or synthetic oil to keep engine heat down.

Reply problems

The majority of people run synthetic oil here. A few have oil coolers.

Musky I have a new fav sig pic I like that one the best. Ok, back to the thread The funny thing about gasoline is the boiling point is huge. anywhere from 100 to 400 degrees you could never cool the engine enough. Although an oil cooler or a great bypass filter or combo would help. The key IMHO is to get the air to flow over and shielding in extreme cases. I have not heard of any cases on pumpless with aftermarket filters a few with pump relocation and aftermarket filters. But I will say I have not searched it endlessly. Simple because it has not happened to me.

Re:Puking 3 Years ago
I'm into day three and still no puke. Going in 1/8th turn on PMS here shortly. And waiting for Makcap to deliver his new air cleaner set up over here. Ha ha.

Hey Doc, I think Ben Herr is Nemissis? Dealer paid for that MOD so I am not sure but he mention that name. Mine is pretty rough inside no so sure on length compared to stock..... but I tried to add a buffer between Manifold and carb because it was metal to metal there even with the rubber gasket and no dice. No room. To add a drop or any length would jack up the way a cleaner mounts to carb.

By George I think I have go this solved though.

MS1700, congratulations on getting a lot closer to a solution!

I was looking at your pics and I think I see that you still have the insulation wrap on the fuel line. Is that correct?

BTW, I think Doc's idea about the rediator hose to move your carb away from the jugs is a great idea!

Ratl.

Re:Puking 3 Years ago
Yea the idea of moving Carb away from Jugs is good one. However that will bring about some maybe, ill effects on the way it runs and torqe - power band and so on. Even may have to re do the carb. So, I am waiting to see how this pans out.

I did get a puke out of it, but it was an "I left the fuel on" puke. So, not going to really count that yet so much, but I am going to continue this path of cooling down the carb and getting more airflow around it by doing some type of aftermarket air cleaner. Waiting on the wizardry of my neighbor, Mekcap. He's got some secret science project going on with an air cleaner, I don't know, some faded pictures shot from far away, lots of banging in the shop, some sawing going on, bending, grinding. Metal parts hitting the floor, the bike revs a few times and more of the same. I'm waiting for some drive by test rides and maybe some jetting going on and then he can come over and fab one up for me.
