OUCH, !!!!!! I know that hurts even if you where inside when it happened. Sounds mostly cosmetic, get some new parts, and some new paint, and some new pride, and next time take some pictures yourself, especially of their license plate, and the individual that was driving. Just in case their story changes. A few pictures are worth thousands of words

Just talked to her and she is very cool about it...waiting for the estimate and she will take care of it. There were a ton of witnesses so there isn't going to be any problem with "whodunit"

TEd - I know the feeling as I had something similar happen a year back. With my adjuster (and yours may be different) I had a list of parts that were damaged and printed web pages off the Yamaha site showing the replacement parts and prices (full MSRP of course) as well as an estimate that I had to pay $50 for from a local mom/pop shop to confirm prices and labor. He took my paperwork and cut me a check right there and said that with bike damage like this that all he can do is go off the "official" paperwork that claimants give him. I'm not saying rip them a new one but there's nothing wrong with them paying MSRP for parts and labor charge and you doing the work yourself. Hell, if its not inside the engine case, these bikes are just like putting a puzzle together. Even a desk jockey/ambulance chaser could do it.

Hey TMK
I'm glad your OK and the * will be reborn. My 2000 R* was born due to a blond down in San Antonio running over my 1,100 shadow I had at the time. You did real good with restraint, in my case I was a MSGT in the Air Force and she was a young airman with a rich daddy( spoiled brat) At any rate, a bad day for her resulted in nine wonderful years with my star so far.
