Am I Just a big Wimp 3 Years ago
I just took off my silverado windshield today and rode to work. I must admit the bike looks 100 times better but I am amazed how much more it sucks to ride above 60mph. I rode the freeway to work about 70-75 mph and I was constantly getting battered in the face with debris (mostly sand) and the wind was pretty crazy. Is this normal? I have ridden sportbikes on the freeway with much smaller windshields and didn't have this problem at all. I am 6'0" 200lbs so it's not like I'm a string bean struggling to hold on but damn!

I do not wish to disrespect you by any means but yes you are a wimp. Most sport bikes that do not even have a windshield are designed to deflect the wind from the rider. On a star without a windshield there is little to keep you from the elements. The windshield has spoiled us is what it comes down to.

Give it a few rides. It takes a little while to get used to. Speaking for myself I can't wait until it warms up enough to take it back off.

I also live in Minnesota (Coon Rapids) so I couldn't resist taking off the windshield today now that its finally getting nice. I really like how it looks without it so I will try to man up in the mean time.

It ain't manning up. Just getting used to. If you find out you don't like it put it back on and don't look back. Enjoying the ride is what counts.

But yeah. I agree. Mine looks much better without it too.

Wimp? Pussy comes to mind!

It's all what you're used to. I never road with a windshield. I'm sure they're great or convenient. Especially on the thruway. I personally hate the look. Won't use one, but then again, mine is a bar hopper. I also wear a nutshell helmet. Physical limitations prevent me from using the bike for long distance travel. If I was bouncing around the country, it might be different or I would just have 2 bikes!
